About
A women's gathering to listen to the Qur'an together, with live female reciters. Recite with us, or come, sit and listen. No Qur'an reading ability is required, and you are welcome even if you do not know how to recite.
We begin by setting our intention, spend most of the gathering reciting with and listening to Qur'an recitation, and close with a short reflection and Maghrib prayer in jama'ah. For this gathering our reciters will be reading from Surah Al-Baqarah, insha Allah.
Bring the heaviness of this world with you and let the Qur'an mend your heart. This is a free program. Register to hold your place.
Three ways to be here
Listen
Sit and let the recitation wash over you
No mushaf and no pressure. Come as you are and listen to Surah Al-Baqarah recited live.
Follow
Read along in your own mushaf
Follow the reciters line by line, at whatever pace you can, and let the words settle.
Recite
Take a turn reading aloud
If you would like to recite, you can, alongside sisters who will carry you through.
Is this for you?
You want to sit with the Qur'an but have not found the time or the company
You do not read Arabic yet and worry you would be out of place
You want to hear Surah Al-Baqarah recited live by women
You are carrying something heavy and need somewhere quiet to bring it
You would like to pray Maghrib in jama'ah with other sisters
Programme
Say salam, find a spot, and take a breath before we begin.
We open together by setting our intention for the afternoon.
Our reciters read from Surah Al-Baqarah. Recite with them, follow along in your mushaf, or simply listen.
A few words on what we have heard, before the sun sets.
We pray Maghrib together and close the gathering at 6:30pm.
