Questions

Good to know

  • Are children allowed to attend?

Children aged 4+ are welcome if they are able to sit calmly and quietly throughout the gathering. As this is a space dedicated to Qur’an recitation and reflection, we kindly ask that if a child becomes unsettled or noisy, you step outside to help maintain the tranquillity of the circle.

  • Can I attend if I am menstruating?

As the gathering takes place inside the masjid, sisters who are menstruating are respectfully unable to attend. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you at a future gathering, insha’Allah.

  • What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early to settle in before the recitation begins. Doors may close once the gathering starts to preserve a peaceful environment.

  • Do I need to register before attending?

Yes, registration is required as spaces are limited. This helps us prepare the space and ensure a comfortable experience for all attendees.

  • Will there be allocated seating?

Seating will be arranged in circles on the floor in a traditional gathering setting. You are welcome to bring a small cushion for added comfort if needed.

  • Is this event suitable for beginners?

Yes, absolutely. This gathering is open to all sisters, regardless of their level, to sit, listen, and reflect upon the words of Allah ﷻ

  • Can I bring my own Qur’an?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own Qur’an if you would like to follow along during the recitation.

  • Will there be a translation provided?

Yes, an English translation will be shared to encourage reflection and deeper understanding.

  • Is photography allowed?

To preserve the sincerity, privacy, and comfort of all attendees, we kindly ask that no photos or videos are taken during the gathering.

  • Is parking available?

Parking is available on-site and via nearby street parking. We recommend arriving early to allow enough time for parking.

  • Can I leave early if needed?

If you need to leave early, we kindly ask that you do so quietly and between recitation segments to minimise disruption. We do however encourage all sisters to remain for the full hour of the event.

  • What should I wear?

As the gathering is held inside the masjid, we kindly ask all attendees to dress modestly in accordance with masjid etiquette.

About

We intend to revive the communal Qur'an Recitation to encourage sisters to listen, recite, learn and live by the book of Allah ﷻ. We truly hope for this space to be a place of serenity in the midst of the life's chaos; a place of reflection, connection and spiritual ascension. We invite all sisters to the gardens of light.
